Mister Goodmath: Problem of the week

The Challenge:

The following problem was submitted by Mr. Joseph DeLillo, a Construction Field Supervisor I for the Facilities Department of the School Board of Broward County, Florida. Mr. Delillo uses math that is mastered by students in Broward County Schools every day. Thanks for the submission, Joe.

The builder of your classroom had to order enough concrete to pour a slab under the floor in your room. Pretend you are the builder. You must order enough concrete to finish the floor and not have too much left over or you'll waste it and lose money!! If one yard of concrete covers 81 square feet at a 4 inch depth and your room is 27 feet long by 27 feet wide:

A. How many yards of concrete will you order?

B. How many trucks will come to your building site?

C. How much will you pay for the concrete?
