Mister Goodmath: Problem of the week

The Challenge:

Mrs. Ryan, a teacher at Welleby Elementary, has a unique way of assigning classroom cleaning duties at the close of each school day. If a child spins a sum of 0 or 6, they have no duties for the week.

If they spin the sum of 1 or 2 they clean the floor, a 4 or 5 they stack chairs, and a 3 they straighten desk rows. By making a list of all of the possible outcomes, determine the probability of having no duties for the week.

Explain in words whether the sum of 4 or 1 would have a better chance of being spun on the spinners shown above.

The Solution:

Should you decide to ponder the problem and accept the challenge, communicate your solution to Mister Goodmath at "rooneym@mistergoodmath.org". Great solutions will be featured on T.V. during WAVE morning announcements.

The Hint:

It would be helpful to make an organized list of all the possible outcomes.
